VARIETY

Evangeline Lilly, who played Kate Austen on Lost and Hope van Dyne in the MCU, posted a blistering Instagram video on April 30, 2026 attacking Disney over mass Marvel layoffs and the company's pivot to AI. On April 14, Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro announced roughly 1,000 job cuts, hitting Marvel Studios' visual development team — about 8% of its workforce. The behind-the-scenes truth: Perrineau was the only actor on set told the scene in advance. Producers told him: "he's coming back, here's what he's going to do, and we are not telling anybody until the day we shoot it." Rodriguez and Watros learned that morning they were being killed off. One of them never got over it.
